Member Ranks
The Forum is divided into ranks. Everypony starts out as a "Blank Flank". Each rank is denoted by a stylized muffin. The more muffins you have, the higher your rank. You can obtain higher ranks by increasing your post count. This does not mean you can spam willy nilly, though.
0 Posts = Blank Flank
50 Posts = Silly Filly
150 Posts = Trusted Student
300 Posts = Mailmare
500 Posts = Gummy
1000 Posts = Pinkie Keen
2000 Posts = Element of Harmony
3500 Posts = Luna Legionnaire
5000 Posts = Celestia's Royal Guard
10000 Posts = FABULOUS!
Avatars
Avatars are restricted to 200x200px and 64kb. If your avatar exceeds 64kb you can upload it to a website like Imgur and link via an off-site avatar. This will allow you to ignore the 64kb limit on avatars. Avatars can be animated, but if they flashy then your avatar will be removed due to issues with epilepsy. Here is an example Avatar:
Thanks
The Thanks system is in place to separate good posts from bad. If a post was particularly helpful, "Thanking" it will give the post a highlight, which will make it distinguishable from the rest. It's very important that you do not abuse the Thanks system for it's use is to make reading the forums easier. There is no award for having lots of Thanks, but don't let that discourage you from making the forums a better place by posting constructively.
Spoilers
Spoilers are "Buttons" that appear on a thread which allow you to hide text, images, etc until the button is pressed. Spoilers are something everypony needs to get familiar with because they are necessary for hiding images that are sensitive (Shipping, etc), Large, or whatever else you want to put in spoilers.
Creating a spoiler is easy. Here we'll go over some examples:

You can also name Spoilers. Naming spoilers will be important. If an image is Shipping/Grimdark it has to be labeled with a warning. Below is an example:

As you can see, the title of the spoiler changed.
Code Tags
The Code tag allows you to post code such as CSS, HTML, Hexadecimal, etc. It's also useful as a way of adding text without formatting. As you saw above, I used code to show how to use spoilers. The Code tag is as follows:
YouTube Embedding
This feature allows you to place YouTube videos into your posts. It is very simple to do! Here is an Example:
Alternatively you can use the "Video" button in the text box.
